Board or Review

E-mail Print PDF

Scouts are required to have a Board of Review as they accomplish all the requirements of a particular rank. We need Parents and Committee Members to serve on Board of Reviews in order to allow our scouts to advance in rank.

To serve on a Board of Review you must:

  • Be a registered member of the Troop
  • Have completed Youth Protection Training which is available online at http://myscouting.scouting.org/
  • Be unrelated to the Scout candidate (i.e. you may not serve on your son’s Boards of Review)

There must be a minimum of 3 people on each Board, but there may be as many as 5 – if you haven’t served on a Board of Review before, sit in on one and see how easy and fun it can be!

After a Board of Review, the Board is responsible for making sure the Board of Review Sign Up book is completed with the following information:

  • Date of Request
  • Name of Scout
  • Rank requested
  • Date of Board of Review
  • Signature of Board Member verifying successful completion of Board

Remember Boards of Review benefit ALL Scouts:

  • In order to advance in rank to Eagle, a Scout will need no fewer than 6 Board of Reviews in his career.
  • If your Scout is pursuing rank advancement, your goal should be to serve on no fewer than 6 Boards.
  • As the Scouts pursue and gain experience and rank advancement, the Troop functions better as an organization and provides a more rounded experience for all Scout members.

For Scouts who want to sign up for a Board of Review:

  • Have a Scout Master conference and have the Scout Master sign your Scout book
  • Sign up in the Board of Review Sign Up Book at the tables in the lobby (next to meeting sign in sheet)
    OR
send an email to Arlene Freeman at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

BE SURE TO INCLUDE in the sign up book or your email:

  • Date of Request
  • Name of Scout
  • Rank requested

Fundraising

E-mail Print PDF

The troop holds several FUND RAISING events during the year so that Scouts can earn money that they can use towards summer camp, monthly campout fees, events, etc. In keeping with the goals of Scouting, we prefer that the fundraisers be Scouting events rather than outright donations from the parents.
